What is this medicine used for?

• Treatment of essential hypertension.
• Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide fixed dose combination (40mg Telmisartan/12.5mg Hydrochlorothiazide) is indicated in adults whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled on Telmisartan Plain.

How much and how often should you use this medicine?

DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION

Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide tablets are for once-daily oral administration and should be taken with liquid, with or without food.

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to any of the active substances or to any of the excipients.
• Hypersensitivity to other sulphonamide-derived substances.
• Second and third trimesters of pregnancy.
• Severe hepatic impairment.

Warning and Precautions

Pregnancy

Angiotensin II Receptor antagonist should not be initiated during pregnancy. Unless continued Angiotensin II receptor antagonist therapy is considered essential, patients planning pregnancy should be changed to alternative antihypertensive treatments, which have an established safety profile for use in pregnancy.

Hepatic impairment

Telmisartan/Hydrochlorothiazide should not be given to patients with cholestasis, biliary obstructive disorders or severe hepatic insufficiency since telmisartan is mostly eliminated with the bile.
