Medicine Information

Indication:

• Treatment for lower respiratory tract infections
• Uncomplicated and complicated urinary tract infections
• Skin and skin structure infections
• Complicated intra-abdominal infections
• Empiric therapy
• Septicemia

Dosage:

• Pneumonia: 1 to 2g every 50mg/kg body weight per dose every 12 hours
• Mild to moderate uncomplicated UTIs: 500mg to 1g every 50mg/kg body weight per dose every 12 hours
• Severe uncomplicated or complicated UTIs: 2g every 50mg/kg body weight per dose every 12 hours

Contraindication:

• Hypersensitivity to cefepime, cephalosporins, penicillins, other β-lactam antibiotics, or any component of the product.

Warnings and Precautions:

Careful inquiry should be made prior to cefalexin therapy to determine whether the patient has had previous hypersensitivity reactions to cefalexin, cephalosporins, penicillins, or other drugs.

Undesirable Effects:

Most Common: Gastrointestinal symptoms and hypersensitivity reactions, fever, chills, dyspnea.
