What is this medicine used for?

For Cefalexin suspension:

• Use in adult: 250mg every 6 hours (Maximum dose: 4g/day)
• Usual Pediatric Dose: 25 to 50 mg/kg body weight/day to be given in equally divided doses every 6 hours.

For Cefalexin capsule:

• Cefalexin is administered orally.
• Usual Adult Dose: 250 mg every 6 hours (Maximum Dose: 4 g/day)

How much and how often should you use this medicine?

Contraindications

For Cefalexin suspension:

• Known hypersensitivity to cephalosporins, penicillins, or any component of the product.

For Cefalexin capsule:

• Hypersensitivity to Cefalexin or any ingredient in the product.
• Alcohol: Avoid drinking alcohol while taking this medicine.
• Probenecid: As with other β-lactam antibiotics, the renal excretion of Cefaclor is inhibited by probenecid.
• Aminoglycosides (Streptomycin, Kanamycin, Gentamicin): May increase the risk of kidney toxicity.
