What is this medicine used for?

AMLODIPINE+LOSARTAN is a combination of two medicines, namely, Losartan and Amlodipine. Losartan belongs to a group of drugs called angiotensin II receptor antagonists. It lowers the blood pressure and increases the blood flow by preventing the narrowing of blood vessels. Losartan is also used to treat stroke and slow down kidney damage in people with type 2 diabetes. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that dilates (widens) blood vessels and increases blood flow. Altogether, it helps to lower high blood pressure, chest pain (angina), and other conditions caused by coronary artery disease.

How much and how often should you use this medicine?

• 1 tablet of Losartan 50mg + Amlodipine 5mg FDC once a day
• 1 tablet of Losartan 100mg + Amlodipine 5mg FDC once a day
• 1 tablet of Losartan 100mg + Amlodipine 10mg FDC once a day

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to losartan potassium, amlodipine besilate, or to any component of the product
• Severe hepatic impairment
• Shock (including cardiogenic shock)

Warning and Precautions

Fetal Toxicity: When pregnancy is detected, discontinue losartan+amlodipine FDC as soon as possible. Drugs that act directly on the renin-angiotensin system can cause injury and death to the developing fetus.
